The Alphabet Game: Song or Music Group Edition

Post by stathmk »

I work at a restaurant. We had some down time and started playing the alphabet game in person with songs or music groups. We started with A for Abba. Then somebody else must take their turn to name something with B. Then they can’t take 2 consecutive turns for 2 letters unless there’s too long a pause. This is going to have to be a little bit different online, so if you take a turn and nobody responds in 72 hours, then I don’t mind if you take a turn again by double posting. My female co-workers are obsessed with Taylor Swift and named a lot of Taylor Swift songs. Please don’t mention Taylor Swift for T or any Taylor Swift songs because I don’t want Taylor to monopolize this game. No cheating by looking up songs or music groups. (EDIT: Or go to The Alphabet Game: Wolfenstein Edition at https://dhw.wolfenstein3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=114831#114831. )

I’ll go first:

A is for Abba
Or
A is for Ace of Bass
Or
A is for Ariana Grande

Funny, as a dumb teen in the 90s I did this to the "Wolf3d Letters" in Mapedit. Could have sworn I put Ace of Bass for A but the version I found was different

The Hip have an almost cult-like following in Canada. Occasionally I'll binge their work. Any good? Very much depends on personal preference and just what you can glean from their lyrics. Musically they're adequate. No one will ever confuse them with Rush. Their late lead singer was extremely passionate and that drew a lot of people into the Hip's catalogue. Their final show knowing the singer was on the verge of dying was shown nationally. Here's the final song of the final show...

265 candidates!?

That's funny. Actually, Taylor Swift can run for President, but she'd have to be born in the United States (I don't know yet if she was), be at least 35 years old, pass the electoral vote, and I think it would be a lost cause. In 1992, I believe that I saw artwork on NBC Nightly News with the names of the 263 or 265 candidates for The American Presidency. You must have at least a certain number of signatures before a deadline to run for President. Some of the candidates are hopeless or trivial. One candidate had 4 votes out of America's 200+ million people. Ultimately, Ross Perot, George H W Bush, and Bill Clinton were the 3 most famous candidates in 1992 and Bill Clinton won. So you can move to America and vote for Taylor Swift if she has a certain number of signatures before a deadline. I thought that I had heard that Taylor Swift has $500 million, so I don't think that she'd like the pay cut of going to just about $250,000 a year as President. If I were President, I wouldn't kill myself from suicide, but I'd be driven up the wall in today's world and accidentally kill myself from a stroke, heart attack, or panic attacks.

This is my 666th post on this forum!

Back on topic... I'm going to guess only one name per letter for now on.

C is for Christina Aguilera.

Poison.

To be honest, I've only heard of Poison, and I know very little about them.

Check out Into the Abyss, it's an outstanding album. Assuming, of course, we're talking about the same Poison. There's a few bands by that name.

R is for... let's see... Damn, all I can think of is Rudra.

STILL LIFE; very nice, darkly occult in the old fashioned vein. Think Uriah Heep/Van der Graaf Generator/Black Widow.
