Corrupted Spear File - Anyone had this happen?

Post by Majik Monkee »

I've been passing my digitally downloaded copy of Spear I've used to make my mods over the years from computer to computer in zip file form, and went to open it for the first time recently on the computer I've been using for the past few years. Much to my surprise, it tells me that one of the crucial files has encountered an error during the extraction process, an issue I've never run in to before. Is there some way to repair a zip file when this happens or is there a chance if I move it to a different computer I might be able to do the extraction? I've never had any issues before with Wolfenstein or my current computer, and while I love SOD, I've paid for it at least three different times in my life, and I'm not willing to do it again...

Is it the VGAHEAD file? I noticed a bug with the default Windows 7 extractor, there a quite a few vgahead files it says are "corrupt" for some reason (End Of Destiny: Editors Version, for example). If I extract them with WinRar, WinZip or 7-Zip it works fine though... so I think it's some weird glitch with the "Windows Explorer zip interface/shell" for Windows 7 itself.

That might be. It is indeed the vgahead having the issue, I'll give winzip a try!
